Its seeds contain two unique substances known as sesamin and sesamolin, which have been found to lower cholesterol levels in humans as well as lower blood pressure. Sesamin also protects the liver from oxidative damage. In addition, the seeds are rich in substances like fiber, lignans (antioxidants) and phytosterol (phytochemicals), which can help prevent various cancers, like colon cancer. The black sesame seed extract can relieve constipation, indigestion, osteoporosis, and increase lactation. It also has anti-aging properties, preventing premature graying of the hair.
